 John Sparkman
Earl Sparkman

In 1962 brothers John and Earl Sparkman were co-workers at a local transport refrigeration service facility. After many discussions about how they believed the customers and employees deserved more attention and respect, they decided to open their own company where they would strive to give customers good service at a fair price.

November 29th 1967 John made their dream a reality and started a company that would be known as Transport Refrigeration Service. Shortly after, Earl joined him and they began to locate the finest employees they could to build a team that would never settle for less then best.

This company would go out of their way to show customers the respect the deserved. They would quickly become a vital part of the food industry and a place for customers to come to when quality products and service is needed.

In 1973 Carrier Transicold Co. approached them to join forces and become a licensed dealer of Carrier products.

In 1993 John retired and Earl took over as the company president. Earl retired in 2001 and his son Mark has taken the reins of the family business. Transport Refrigeration Service has now been renamed Carrier Transicold of Detroit. What started out as nothing more then a vacant corner in a customer’s building has grown into a 30,000 sq. foot facility in Lincoln Park, a suburb outside of Detroit.

Over the years Carrier Transicold of Detroit has been an award winning company. They have been named Dealer of the Year four times and have been runners up twice. They have won Medal of Excellence, Winner’s Circle and Next Level 2 awards. These awards are given based on a point scale in which dealers are graded in sales, service and training. Carrier Transicold of Detroit has received a perfect score or higher the last 8 years.  They have also received two Brick and Mortar awards, which are presented when a Carrier dealer remodels or expands their facilities to better serve the business and their customers needs.

Carrier Transicold of Detroit makes sure they are always available to their customers by having 6 mobile service vehicles, including one that stops daily at the container and rail yards for matinence and fueling. They also have a vehicle for off site part sales. 24 hour emergency service is always available.

Carrier Transicold of Detroit is working hard to stay on top of the ever changing and growing transport cooling and heating industry by having a strong understanding of the customers needs and by being highly educated in the products they offer.
