Company History

1962
Brothers John and Earl Sparkman were co-workers at a local transport refrigeration service facility. After many discussions about how they believed the customers and employees deserved more attention and respect, they decided to open their own company where they would strive to give customers good service at a fair price.

November 29, 1967
John made their dream a reality and started our company, which would be known as Transport Refrigeration Service. Shortly after, Earl joined him and they began to locate the finest employees they could to build a team that would never settle for less than best.
Our employees would go out of their way to show customers the respect they deserved. They would quickly become a vital part of the food industry and a place for customers to come to when quality products and service is needed.
1973
Carrier Transicold Co. approached our company to join forces, and we became a licensed dealer of Carrier products.
1993
John retired and Earl took over as the company president.
2001
Earl retired and his son Mark has taken the reins of the family business. Transport Refrigeration Service was renamed Carrier Transicold of Detroit. What started out as nothing more than a vacant corner in a customer’s building had grown into a 30,000 sq. foot facility in Lincoln Park, a suburb outside of Detroit.
2006
We moved into a new facility on 1180 John A Papalas Drive in Lincoln Park.
